Sam,
Growing up Samantha was always the ‘art kid’ at school, spending her time doodling in her books instead of paying attention to the class. This passion and love of art led her to further study and earn a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Art (specialisation in painting) from the University of South Australia.
Not growing up around tattoos or tattooed family, it wasn’t until uni where she was exposed to peers who were tattoo collectors. What instantly took her interest was bold traditional designs and the history behind them.
In January 2019 Sam started an apprenticeship in tattooing, from the start she was set on doing traditional tattoos. Sam has been incredibly fortunate enough to build a clientele base who are just as passionate as about the art style as she is, with many still continuing to build sleeves with her since the start of her journey.
Sam’s work has been described by her clients as ‘romantic trad’ or ‘goth trad’ ..if she can add a moon, heart, skull or stars into a design she will! Although she mainly works in greywash shes always excited to do bright, colourful pieces. Building a bold design based on a band/song or pop culture imagery is always a favourite to tattoo, outside of the classic traditional.
After taking a few years off from tattooing to build a little family with her husband she picked the machine back up in 2023, and as of 2026 has excitedly joined the team at Birds of Prey.
